Experts Discuss Role of Sustainability in Enhancing the Cultural Sector at the Riyadh International Book Fair

Experts at a panel discussion during the Riyadh International Book Fair 2024 "Riyadh Reads" explored on Saturday opportunities for achieving sustainability in cultural sectors and the importance of enhancing these sectors.

 They highlighted a range of essential factors needed to ensure a sustainable future for the diverse facets of the cultural industry.

 The participants in the panel concluded that measures and actions must be taken to achieve the desired goal, such as preserving natural resources and emphasizing the importance of quality in cultural tourism.

 They also stressed the necessity of focusing on scientific research to develop sustainable solutions that support strategic policies and directions to enhance the cultural sector.

 The panel discussed the serious steps that the Kingdom has taken and adopted to pave the way towards full sustainability, which would strengthen this sector.

 Moreover, the participants addressed some challenges that may impede progress towards sustainable cultural sectors, which have been met with serious national efforts.

 These initiatives have positioned the Kingdom as one of the leading countries focused on creating a healthy environment that facilitates the integration of sustainability into its developmental plans.

 They referred to the AlUla Declaration made during the G20 Summit, which emphasized the importance of sustainable tourism and supporting related indicators such as quality education, economic growth, responsible consumption, peace and justice, as well as strong institutions and partnerships to achieve these goals.
